Ulysses 31 was a futuristic rendition of the classic tale, "The Odyssey," by Homer. This afternoon animated series was a synergy of French writing and Japanese animation.

Journeyman Ulysses [Matt Berman] and son Telemachus [Adrian Knight] leave Troy for Earth, when his son is suddenly captured by the followers of the Cyclops. In order to free his son, he must slay the Cyclops but face the consequences - a perilous future brought about by the rage of the gods. The plot takes viewers though the trials set forth by Zeus [Jean Topart] as Ulysses and crew find their way back to Earth. Ulysses travels with his son Telemachus, an experienced pilot, who is accompanied by his tiny red robotic pal No-No [Howard Ryshpan]. Nestor, one of Ulysses' commanders, is cursed by the gods and put into a frozen state, where he remains for a long duration of time, as does the navigator Uriclae. Numinor, a blue skinned, yellow eyed alien from planet Zotra, is taken on board Ulysses' ship (the Odyssey) along with his younger sister, Yumi [Anick Faris].

Ulysses 31 was shown as a segment of "Kideo TV," a rotation series that featured various cartoons, including Rainbow Brite and Popples, beginning on September 13, 1986.

Sterling Studio released episodes of "Ulysses 31" on DVD, in 2003.
