Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light was an animated weekday
afternoon series about a technological world stricken with disaster,
and the mystical knights who protect it. On a planet called Prysmos
- rampant with technology, a solar phenomenon shuts down all technology
and the population is divided between law abiding citizens and unruly
criminals. A wizard named Merklynn [Roscoe Lee Browne] appears,
to announce the new age of magic. Upon placing a challenge to the
people of Valarak, the victors will be rewarded. As a result, 14
knights are appointed - as the good Spectral Knights and the evil
Darkling Lords, with the powers of summoning.
Both
factions possess magical armor and staves with panels that encase
powerful magic beings that can be summoned in combat. Led by whip-wielding
Leoric [Neil Ross] and his spectral lion, the Spectral Knights include
Feryl [Beau Weaver] and his spectral wolf, the strong Cyrotek [Bernard
Erhard] and his spectral bear, policeman Ectar [Michael McConnohie]
and his spectral fox, airborne Arzon and his spectral eagle, the
beautiful Galadria [Susan Blu] and her spectral dolphin, and athlete
Whitterquick [Jim Cummings] and his spectral cheetah.
Beyond
usage of their animal totems, the knights also mastered one special
magic spell, each.
The
Darkling Lords led by axeman Darkstorm [Chris Latta] and his spectral
snail monster, strong yet unintelligent Cindarr [Peter Cullen] and
his spectral gorilla, Reekon [Roscoe Lee Browne] the thief and his
spectral lizard, the greedy Lexor [Michael McConnohie] and his spectral
armadillo, abrasive Cravex [Chris Latta] and his spectral phylot
(flying dragon), Mortdredd [Jonathan Harris] - servant of Darkstrom,
and his spectral spider, and savagely beautiful Virulina [Jennifer
Darling] and her spectral shark.
The
extremely short series only lasted one season of 13 episodes. Each
episode was narrated by Malachi Throne.
