Alvin and the Chipmunks was an animated series that breathed new life into the old Alvin characters from LP fame.

Part comedy, part drama, part everything, this cartoon series featured a very 80s attitude. The chipmunk brothers, namely the rambunctious Alvin Seville [Ross Bagdasarian Jr.], nerdy Simon Seville [Ross Bagdasarian Jr.] and chubby Theodore Seville [Janice Karman] were in school and in a band...dealing with kid issues, and rival band the Chipettes - Brittany [Janice Karman], Jeanette [Janice Karman] and Elanor [Janice Karman], who seem to also be their opposite-sex counterparts.

The chipmunks were adopted by Dave Seville, who found them on his doorstep one day, and eventually became their band manager. Alvin constantly upset him to the point where he would scream the trademark "ALVIN!!!" out loud, in a temper tantrum.

This show featured a multitude of references to the 80s, spanning from culture to music. Each episode had a music sequence in which the Chipmunks would sing a current radio hit, from Michael Jackson to Elton John and many more. Shows and movies including Miami Vice, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Robocop, and the then-popular TV series Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous, were all parodied on the cartoon. Additionally, carious famous faces made their own cartoon appearances, including Mr. T, Dolly Parton.

The series spanned 6 seasons. Various episodes and movies have been released on DVD from Paramount Home Video.
