A young duo of stunt drivers: Dan Darrett [David Coburn] and Tess Darrett [Lisa Lindgren], with kid sister Daisy Darrett [Kaleena Kiff] and her pet Kuma [voiced by Marilyn Schreffler], run their late parents' stunt show business-slash-investigative service dubbed "The Pole Position Stunt Show," with uncle Dr. Zachary Darrett [Jack Angel].

Their artificially intelligent race cars included Tess' car Wheels [voiced by Melvin Franklen] and Dan's car Roadie [Darryl Hickman], were fully aware of their surroundings and spoke to their drivers in "Knight Rider" fashion, while appearing as a pixellated face on a television screen within the dashboard, which could be removed and carried anywhere. Both cars feature special compartments and enhancements for different road conditions.

The series involes this family team as they participate in races around the world, while solving crimes and mysteries along the way.
