Hello, every one my name is Jason, I was born in 1978 and so I was a child of the mid and late 80s. I used to love waking up at the butt crack of dawn to watch Saturday Morning cartons. I loved every thing about it, and consider it one of the best times of my child hood. The cartoons were great; the commercials back then were awesome. The times were just better, maybe it because kids don’t have a worry in the world, except what we were going to do later in the day. It seems to me that TV now days is very different then it was, the marketing strategies have change, and so have the TV personalities of yesterday.

So a little about me, I studied marketing in college but im working IT for a small company go figure, I do like my job though so I guess that’s the important part. For hobbies I like do allot of different things, workout, play poker, I play word of warcraft on the thunderlord server in the Horde (morglum). I like allot of the retro sites, like X entertainment, and retrojunk. I have addictions like any one else and right now its peanut butter.

I don’t know what else to post but I wanted to at least get this thread rolling.

Thanks Jason - I agree with your points, they really were the best of times. I'm not sure what was better, the shows or the commercials :shades:

I can tell you that cartoons today are so awful by comparison. Two Saturdays ago I watched the new TMNT cartoon, it was terrible. The one I grew up with was so much better.

I've also seen the new GI Joe cartoon...terrible. I have season 1 on DVD and it still blows away any morning cartoon out today.

yea I feel sorry for kids today, all their cartoons are so..I don't know how to put it, but like, un organic, soulless.

That is the best way I can describe it.

Plus the commercials, man those are very terrible now, the commercials of old had great songs, colorful characters and even storylines yo ucould get into.

Though, there are a lot of great ones today, just as a whole they are terrible.

You know I think it has allot to do with parents not wanting to take responsibility for their kids. The finger gets pointed way to much on why children are obese or screwed up. If you make a commercial that is targeted twords children, but better make sure its something healthy. I think this may also be a reason that cereal prizes have gotten so crappy now day.

Next time you go to your local grocery store take a look at what they give away in ceral boxes, its allot of nothing most of the stuff is flip the back of the box over and play little games. No more pvc figures of flintstone characters, no more secret decoder rings, no more ninja turtle cereal bowls.

Its all quit sad.
