With the success of the new Transformers movies, Hasbro’s toy line like Lazarus has been revived and stronger then ever. Truth be told I think the toys made a comeback a few years ago, but without any actual media kids just kind of walked passed them buying there Yugio figures and whatever superhero action figure was popular at the time. Now like a phoenix Transformers has risen from the ashes to give endless hours of play times to a new generation of kids. As a kid I was always more of a GI Joe fanboy more so then a Transformer one, but I would watch both cartoons religiously after school with my 4 cookies and glass of milk.

There was one Transformer though, that I had, that was one of the heroes of my ongoing story line with my Joes, Ninja Turtles to try and defeat the two masterminds of Shredder and Prime Evil( Prime Evil was a kick ass character from the Ghost Busters cartoon, the one with the gorilla mind you and not the one from the movie)

Hot Rod (1986) for me was the coolest of characters; he came out in the movie and later became the leader of the autobots after Prime Perished, with a memorable fight with Megatron. I remember the toy being one of the greatest Transformers I ever owned. If they make another movie I would love to see him in it. His character was as the name implies , A Hot Rod he was brash flamboyant, and would swagger around with a smart ass attitude in other words he was the cool guy and as an 8 year old he was the person you wanted to emulate minus the transforming abilities.

Right after the first TF movie is when I stopped watching the series - Hot Rod was a cool figure, I wound up getting the complete Rodimus through some co-worker of my mother's, who got rid of all of her son's transformers :chuckle: I wound up getting a milk crate full of them.

About the new Transformers movie...they actually contracted 2 sequels already!

after the '86 movie came out that's all I would talk about. I remember my parents got me most of the new transformers like: ultra magnus and cyclonus. I think my most prized possession was metroplex. I love playing with him. I only had him for 3 months when one day I walked in on my sister with my metroplex and a screw driver. At first I thought nothing of it until I did a double take. I was so pissed I could have killed her. I gathered him up and put him in a plastic bag hoping to put him together. Once I showed my mom what my sister did she just told me to throw the bag away. That was a sad day. It's still bigger than what she did to my beastman from he-man.

As for the 1986 movie, I never liked it. Because of the deaths of the origional Transformers from the 1st and 2sec seasons. It's too bad that no TF fan ever spoke out, or protested against the death materials in that movie. I talked to Susan Blu on the phone once. Who played the voice of Arcee, and told her about it. And she didn't care. What a sad bummer!!!!!!!!!!:shame:

I know this is going to sound mean but I don't think susan blu is all there. When they re-released transformers the movie on dvd I watched her interview. She's a complete air-head. I'm sorry if I upset anyone with this comment.

No, no it's okay. I don't blame you. All of these voice actors are not cartoon fans. They're not even interested in Super Sunday either. Christy Marx who wrote Jem is not interested in that cartoon. And Pat Fraley who played the voice of Exeter Galaxon in Robotix, refused to sign my two Super Sunday Petitions. And I was mad at him. These actors only care about their jobs, and make a living. A lot of them are also baby boomers. B ecause they did not grow up with the TV programs from people that are of Generation X, like me. It's a shame. After I saw Transformers:The Movie, it somehow changed my life. Including when Super Sunday came off the air in the late summer of 1986. But this was all back in 1986. Besides, I am not aware of any celebrity who's an 80's cartoon fan like us members on Retrostatic. It's a shame.
